This latest win in a senior competition by a team compiled mostly of schoolboys, makes the team unbeaten over the last 3 years. The team coached by ex Arabian Gulf IRB 7's coach, Darryl Weir, has never lost a game. According to well known sport promoter, Willem Strauss, "this is a remarkable achievement for any team even more so for a bunch of schoolboys playing in senior international competitions."
According to Dederick Venter, @lantic Marketing Director, "it is a privilege to be involved with such a talented group of young players and @lantic's investment in schools 7's over the last 3 years have been worth it through and through. Every year we have an abundance of new talent coming through which bodes well for the future of 7's rugby in South Africa. Possible inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games makes 7's an extremely attractive proposition for young players."
Paul Treu was on hand to congratulate the boys and pulled a few of them aside for a special word. It is widely expected that a number of them may feature in Paul's plans in the near future.
The boys practiced with and played against the Springboks the day before the tournament started and gained valuable experience from their national counterparts. A player like Danie Truter from HS Pionier in Vryheid will surely remember his magnificent try against the Springboks in their warm up game for a long time. His break from within his own 22 was a definite crowd pleasure.
